I hoped Duffy'd win as best singer for the Brit Awards: she actually did and I'm so glad, she has a special, such a remarkable voice!

Here's the wonderful news from her official site http://www.iamduffy.com/index2.html with the video of her retro-inspired impressive performance: it's magical to hear her sing live! By the way, her dress was lovely: not only the bright color that suits her very well, but also the fine quality material that made her look better than ever. She definitely had the classy appearance of a winner!


Duffy Triumphs At The BRITs

Last night Duffy was honoured with no less than three awards at the BRIT Awards 2009 ceremony - more than any other artist.

Duffy was awarded Best British Female Solo Artist, Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Album for the momentous 'Rockferry'.

One of the best moments last Friday was the rock&roll of the best team: Pavel Bartoş & Luciana Muntean: not only their suits were funny and original but most of all they "played the game":they enjoyed this dance a lot, despite how tired they were after hours of training...




I also liked the idea that the remaining 3 couples to dance their best dances:
Alina Dumitru & Denis Bolborea, Gina Pistol & Vladimir Palamarciuc:
I put those dances in my previous posts: the gipsy dance for the first team and the Irish dance for the second...
The duel had benefit of the 2 dance groups' participation and so the competitors got well syncronised. Denis was a member of one group and Vladimir of the other, as they danced a lot in the past ...




Wait for my post about the 28 of nov. edition when we'll find out who the big winners will be!!!It is expected to be a catchy show with 3 dance styles for each couple: musical, freestyle and improvisation !
As a bonus, I can hardly wait for the special show on the 1st of december( the national day of Romania...)

This time I wasn't so happy to write about the show...Not to mention it was a disappointment for many, including C. Patrichi, one of the most respected judge...After a series of marks of 10, the team Marius Nedelcu & Alexandra Seleş was eliminated.......For those interested I post a link to a Romanian blog entry discussing the injustice: http://glossymagazine.ro/2008/11/15/dupa-un-sir-nesfarsit-de-10-marius-si-alexandra-au-parasit-dansez-pentru-tine.html
 I think that the public shouldn't be the one to make such a serios decision- exclusion of a team from the contest... their judgement is mainly emotional based on the gravity of the case...


Another team that got accustomed to mesmerize us has won first place again: Pavel Bartoş & Luciana Muntean : what a daring tango - especially talking of her performance; need to say something more of their R&B ? It was so full of personality...and original....Victoria Bucun rulz again!




There was another sensual tango which made a good impression Giulia & Andrei Ştefan:


Despite what I said about the result of the duel, I think the way it developed was interesting, it had the spectacular sparkle: the suit changes....

I'm back with this wonderful show: see for yourself...For instance, this couple has confronted the duel, but after winning it, they did absolutely great: Alina Dumitru & Denis Bolborea: she's a judo sportswoman and their trainer was brilliant to add judo moves to their gipsy dance




I return to the couple : Marius Urzică & Larisa Pleşca. I've also spoken of them in my last post: together with their trainer, they did a spectacular job:

Their gipsy dance was great and they were helped by the wonderful song "Şatra în asfinţit" (by the way, it reminds me of the TV series "Gipsy Heart" -"Inimă de ţigan", that I'm going to talk about). Too bad they got a few low marks...




Marius Nedelcu & Alexandra Seleş danced a daring, seductive rumba with a few mistakes, but still it impresses...A dance where the dancers show emotion is a succesful one; when the dancers suggest the message of the song and they put a lot of passion in this expression, then even their small mistakes are overlooked.







DANSEZ pentru TINE ("Dancing With Stars" in Romania)

Once this show had started I had a good feeling about it: it was the promise of a wonderful tv show done in the good old way: mostly live singing with a famous orchestra, in a large beautifully decorated set just fit for dancing. All inspired by a mixture of old and new. It turned out so charming and the overwhelming efforts to prepare such a complex show impressed me even more: we only see the glamor and the glitter and the smiling faces, forgetting what's behind the great accomplishments...
There are many reasons why one should watch this show: not only the apparel aspects: gorgeous outfits, jewelery, make-up -- the atmosphere of a united family that's created by the contestants' moving stories, along with their courage, commitment and many times valuable talent and by the friendly interaction between them and the jury, the show presenters, other competitors, trainers. Sometimes it all bursts out with emotion that even the competent jury finds it hard to be objective... There are moments when words are not enough to express the feelings...The ambition of the competitors puts them at risk of injuries, trainings test their resistance to both physical and psychological stress. Some of them get to our hearts simply by being themselves, showing skills that were unknown even to them. The stars helping each one of them surprise us either in a good or a bad way: there are some of them who turned out to be special people, willing to sacrifice a lot in helping an unknown person. Those stars who are truly opened to learn and to progress deserve all respect. There were some disappointments, unfortunately causing those contestants to be out. However, what's amazing is that even those who had the misfortune to lose, despite all the efforts, dedication and torment, they are eventually helped to fulfill their dreams.
The ordinary people who compete gain not only fame, but also hope, respect, self-confidence, strength (physical & psychological),along with learning dance skills and how to handle themselves on stage. The ones helping them, who are already famous, gain skills from professional dancers helping them to be better in their areas: as singers, dancers, sportsmen etc. Not to mention the public may reconsider them, see them in a different light, while all the participants in the show may see life in a different perspective after having the opportunity of meeting special people and going through experiences they may never forget....

It's quite stylish, just like the show There's a lot to see: photos, videos, latest news, info about the contestants, the jury and the presenters. A star of the show is the presenter Ştefan Bănică Jr.- he's a great entertainer and we may see him performing during the show. Anyway, he knows when to step out of the light and let someone else be the center of attention. Maybe it's too obvious he imitates Elvis Presley, but he does it with reverence and talent with a personal touch.
There are special guests invited to the show and this contributes a great deal to its succes. They perform to help people in great distress.
Here there are a few of my favourite dances in the first week :

Laura Cosoi & Andrei Ştefan : Laura is wonderful: so graceful, skillful, she feels the music and she sends so much emotion. She's so charming-her posture is perfect most of the time, while her mistakes - if any - are almost unnoticeable. You get to float with her dancing dreaming smth. romantic: it's clear - she is made for clasic dance styles. But one can't help praising her for all her performances.


Marius Urzică & Larisa Pleşca - Marius Urzică is a great sportsman and this helps him resisting the stress of training. He also impreses by using acrobatics while dancing. This Indian dance has given him all the freedom of movement. Larisa Pleşca is so charming: she is proud of being a gipsy, but her face makes me think of a mulatta. She has done very well at this dance style - it suits her well. The make-up and the costumes have done a great job for them!





Gina Pistol & Vladimir Plamarciuc- I don't have a very good opinion about Gina Pistol...We shall see if she progreses and how much....Her colleague is something: just look at the photos where Vladimir appears: his wide smile can be seen miles away: this says it all about him. Anyway, his performance was a nice surprise: he may get to be one of Michael Flatley's students...who knows
