ELTON JOHN in ROMANIA

Two weeks ago the event of the year happened in Romania! I had the pleasure and I felt honoured to be there! On the 12th of June, Sir Elton John & His Band stopped by in Bucharest for the most expected concert since he last visited us seven years ago. What a show!! I was impressed by his force, enthusiasm and virtuosity...The brilliant guys from the band were genial: the way they show appreciation for the audience by their pantomime and by their dedication to a marvelous performance of complex musical compositions. Actually, as I gladly expected, most of the less known songs sounded live classical music-like. Elton's improvisations make any performance of his worth taking delight in... To a perceptive good listener it's such a thrill discovering each time something new in his new piano impromptus ...With sparkles of jazz, rock & roll melting with noble symphonic and classical waves, those moments of magic give an unexpected insight of his great talent and his real substance as an artist of such a value...
The second part of the show seemed more vivid and accessible to the wide public who jumped right up to dance on Elton John's most known hits... It's a real joy to sing along with him at his cheer the amusing "Crocodile Rock"... However, I was still longing for a masterpiece as "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" so full of meanings, so autobiographical for Elton John. Sadly, he didn't perform it live to us that hot night...
It was a great surprise to read on their faces how good they were feeling on the stage! Elton and the band skipped the planned break and played the additional half hour! What a luck! He even signed two autographs and received the flowers thanking many times ...
" The Bitch is Back" was the episode with the jolly moments I was waiting for: the piano jumping and sitting on the piano make the show spicy enough to ask for more: what a great entertainer and what an original relationship with his piano Elton has!!! Yes, he admitted being influenced by Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard, but it's obvious Sir Elton brings his special unique touch...
All in all, the sound was great, they all looked so nice wearing their fine outfits-- Sir Elton appeared like a gentleman with an elegant suit with the charming embroidery...(not to mention the eye glasses with his initials! Oh, and the earring!)...
It's so impressive to see members of his band in the 80s video recordings and after so many years they are still working with Sir Elton : he actually introduced them speaking about it... Valuable artists attract themselwes to one another (as it is with Bernie Taupin and Sir Elton)... Nigel Olsson was absolutely brilliant on drums : like a spell, so good- humored and involved, full of energy... They were so entertaining ,so masterful, sending a feeling of well-being. They seemed natural, not getting above themselves...

I shot a big part of the show with some problems due to some annoying people in the crowd and farness from the stage ... I was quite nervous as this may be the chance of a lifetime to see those amazing artists live, so close and yet, so far...
The videos are both mine (sorry for the faults), I'm proud of how I've managed anyway, it's a lot of emotion involved... Hotnews owns the rights for the photos, so if you want to see the rest of the gallery follow the link.
And now, ladies and gentlemen...enjoy the first part:

(for the Romanian viewers: have you noticed anyone well-known?)

Now get into the groove to the second part:

I wish this wasn't the end of the show... Let's hope for a soon comeback with a brand new playlist: I've gladly heard about the new album which will appear this autumn with the brand new single "Never too old" ...

HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYBODY!!!

I hope you had a marvellous time celebrating Easter! This is the spring holiday that not only makes us meditate about the Resurrection of Christ, but it also revigorates all of us while we come to life along with nature in all its aspects...
Talking about creatures in the wild ...
... I've always been amazed about squirrels: their speed, the way they look : their fluffy fire-like tail, the ears' horns ; how they gather food grabbing it in their funny grip...I've just captured a beautiful specimen on film (what a luck!):

video

The small cute creature didn't seem that untamed anymore...I even got the feeling the squirrel was playing with us .... How telegenic...".the little flame" smiled & posed too well for the camera!

Whitney Houston -- Million Dollar BillImage by これは 目覚まし珈琲 via Flickr

This can be a follow up of my previous post "Whitney Houston Has Returned"...What a better way to celebrate these days than dancing on and enjoying good music. A more energizing song of Whitney's, "Million Dollar Bill", reminds me of her good times once again. The video is quite entertaining, though not stunning...but her diva image is brought back on track: it gives me a good feeling about her come-back. Enjoy it!!!

WHITNEY HOUSTON Has Returned

16:50 Posted In , , , , Edit This 0 Comments »

Thank God a great singer as Whitney Houston has returned! In her new album she has a slightly changed voice: more mature and rough imprinted by the harsh times in her troubled last 8 years...
There are songs in the album that tell the story of her trial in a moving way: the one that gives the title for her album "I Look to You" has also a video, and it brings back the classy style describing her in the past. Simple means elegant, touching, honest, especially this time... It's still the Whitney Houston we looked up to in her successful artistic past, with a taste of bitterness overcome with the help of divine guidance. Indeed she seems confident and radiant, giving us reasons to consider her a winner, in spite of her long career break along with a few bad chosen songs that were not representing her as an artistic personality of high class... The song may not get to be a hit, but the message in the lyrics is very well expressed and it's the confession she needs to make to the viewers in the beginning of her new road...

ELVIS LIVES...

It's so moving to spell the title above and realize how it's all about the same 5 letters "E" "L" "V" "I" "S"...Today we honor the king of rock& roll for all that he has been as an artistic personality and as a special human being.
A special tribute to Elvis can point out the musical style in which he had excelled in, ever since he was a child: that is
gospel. I was impressed by a gospel medley added to a collage of great photos of ELVIS PRESLEY that show him how he truly sang: full of energy, soul, dedication, always looking for perfection with the joy in his heart on the privilege to express himself freely.(I'd like to congratulate Jackiej61too for the lovely ELVIS page design and emotional videos!).

Elvis Presley Gospel Medley-1968 Comeback Special

Elvis performed this production number in his NBC 1968 Special, which was filmed on June 28, 1968, and aired on December 3, 1968. The songs contained are Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child (lead sung by Darlene Love), Where Could I Go But to the Lord, Up Above My Head, and Saved. The vocal and instrumental tracks were recorded June 20 or 21, 1968. Elvis lip-synched the number, and no audience was present during the filming. This medley is available on Memories The 68 Comeback Special

(Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
A long, long way from home
A long way from home)

(Words & music by J. B. Coats)

Living below in this old sinful world
Hardly a comfort can afford
Striving alone to face temptation so
Now won't you tell me?
Where could I go but to the Lord

Where could I go oh where could I go
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Oh Lord, Im Needing a friend to save me in the end
Now Won't you tell me
Where could I go but to the Lord
Now Won't you tell me
Where could I go but to the Lord

(Words & music by Brown)

Up above my head there is music in the air
Up above my head there is music in the air
Up above my head there is music in the air, oh yeah!
And I really do believe, I really do believe
I really do believe there's a heaven somewhere

There's a heaven somewhere

(Words & music by Leiber - Stoller)

I wanna soothe my heart, I wanna ease my mind
I wanna move my shoes and see what I can find
I wanna stand up tall and open up my eyes
I wanna reach out my hand until I touch the skies
I was a poor lost lamb in a deep dark hole
But now I've found that light thats I'm gonna save my soul
I used to drink, I used to smoke
I used to smoke, drink and dance the hoochy-coo
I used to smoke and drink, smoke and drink and dance the hoochy-coo
Oh oh yeh! And now I'm standing on thus corner praying for me and you
Ah ah ah

I-I-I That's why I'm saved I'm saved
People let me tell you 'bout kingdom come
You know I'm saved I'm saved
Well I can preach until you're deaf and dumb
I'm in that soul saving army beating on that big bass drum

I used to cuss, I used to fuss
I used to fuss, cuss, boogie all night long
I used to cuss and fuss, cuss and fuss,
Cuss and fuss and boogie all night long, ah ah ah
And now I'm standing on this corner, I know right from wrong

I-I-I That's why I'm saved I'm saved
People let me tell you 'bout a kingdom come
You know I'm saved I'm saved
Well now I can preach until you're deaf and dumb
I'm in that soul saving army beating on that big bass drum

I used to lie, I used to cheat
I used to lie, cheat, step on people's feet
I used to lie and cheat, lie and cheat and step on people's feet
Well now I'm steppin' on to glory salvation in my beat

Because I'm saved, I'm saved
People let me tell you 'bout a kingdom come
Im saved I'm saved
Well I can preach until you're deaf and dumb
I'm in that soul saving army beating on that big bass drum
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
Oh oh oh ah ah ah oh oh oh

I'm in that soul saving army beating on that big bass drum

Oh oh yeah!

Because I'm saved, I'm saved
People let me tell you 'bout kingdom come
You know I'm saved I'm saved
Well now I can preach until you're deaf and dumb
I'm saved, I'm saved I'm saved

I said Im saved
I said Im saved
Yeah Im saved
Wow wow wow

Beyonce's new song: “Broken Hearted Girl“

16:13 Posted In , , , , , Edit This 0 Comments »

Beyonce singing ListenImage via Wikipedia

This is Beyonce's new hit and video ''Broken Hearted Girl''. Great song with sentimental lyrics so suggestive about the contradictory feelings a woman in love has to deal with sometimes... It's a song that cannot leave the public indifferent : a good composition with the piano heard well enough to be touching...

The video is as full of meanings as the song marking the feelings fluctuation in a poetic manner. The director uses the contrast: in the beginning she's crying while being tormented by the fear and sorrow of a possible break-up, and in the end she's clearly smiling at peace with the choice of forgiveness and preserving the love...Most of the video is black& white, but the moment she comes alive set free from the pain, the images become coloured so natural. The scene that's so moving is filled with symbolic meaning: she mends a rose putting back its petals that had been previously been torn away: the colors are so vivid: the rose is a shining red (the symbol of love) full of life as she is: in a green vaporous long dress wearing almost no makeup at all. She seems so deeply dedicated to love!
Beyonce is more natural than in other videos and that's enchanting...She looks very atractive and she sends a lot of feeling through her voice while performing the song.
